 Evelyn Charles Hodges  was an eminent Irish clergyman 〔Fryde, E. B; Greenway, D. E; Porter, S; Roy, I. (1996). Handbook of British Chronology (Third Edition, revised ed.).  He was born in Towlerton House, County Carlow on  8 August 1887 into an ecclesiastical family,〔His father was the  Rev. W. H. Hodges >“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X〕 educated at Rathmines School〔(RPC )〕
 and Trinity College, Dublin 〔“Who was Who”1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X〕 and  ordained in 1911.〔”The Clergy List” London, Kelly’s, 1913〕 He was a Curate at Drumcondra and then  Rathmines. Following this he spent 7 years as Diocesan Inspector of Schools  for Dublin, Glendalough and Kildare before returning to Rathmines as its incumbent, serving from 1924 until 1927. From 1928 to 1943 he was Principal of the Church of Ireland Training College for Teachers, when he became the  Bishop of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe.〔The Times, Thursday, Feb 04, 1943; pg. 7; Issue 49461; col C ''Ecclesiastical News Irish Bishop Consecrated''〕 He resigned in 1960〔The Bishop Of Limerick To Retire (Official Appointments and Notices) The Times Thursday, Jul 28, 1960; pg. 12; Issue 54835; col F〕 and died on 18 March 1980.〔Deaths The Times  Monday, Mar 24, 1980; pg. 28; Issue 60583; col B〕
 He wrote a biography of the Church of Ireland clergy man Ernest Lewis-Crosby.
